Using Literature as a Force for Change: Frances Harper

Learn about a dynamic and courageous young woman who dared to write stories, plays and poetry that told of the injustice of slavery. Dr. Lena Ampadu, Professor of English at Towson University, will present an engaging illustrated talk on Frances E. W. Harper, 19th century writer and Baltimore native. This program is one in a series that relates to the museum’s current exhibit, From Banneker to Douglass: The Quests for Freedom and Equality.
