Warmth and Light: Fire and Firemaking in the 18th Century

Saturday, January 31; 1 - 3 p.m.

If we need light, we flip a switch. Need heat? Turn up the thermostat. Want warm food? Turn on the oven or stove. Life was not so simple in Mr. Banneker’s time. Learn how he and others at that time made and used fire. Optional purchase of 18th century flint-and-steel set to take home and practice on your own (must be ordered with two-week advance registration).
