CATONSVILLE , MD (November 30, 2016) – Cindy and Rick Jones brought 40 bottles of wine with them when they moved earlier this year to Charlestown retirement community. The blueberry-flavored wine – which they named Blue Manga -- had been made from fruit grown at their former home in Randallstown, Maryland.
The wine, which has hot peppers in it, has the label Harper Hill, named after their home’s original owner, Harper Griswold. Griswold, ironically as it has turned out, is now their neighbor at Charlestown.
Griswold and his late wife Katherine built the house in 1970 on a cow pasture that was once part of her family’s farm. An arborist and retired landscape architect for Johns Hopkins Hospital, Griswold created a hidden oasis in the heart of Randallstown. The Joneses purchased the house from him in 1994 and enjoyed the fruits of his labor for 22 years.

Today the three are reunited, enjoying their friendship and their shared love of wine – thanks to a custom wine rack installed under the pass-through in the kitchen of the Jones’ apartment where all of the bottles are on display.
As wine connoisseurs say, “La vie est belle!”
