According to a news release, county inspectors will rotate through various areas to identify trouble spots that could create dangerous conditions for pedestrians. At those spots, inspectors will leave a door hanger to remind residents and business proprietors to remove the snow and ice from abutting sidewalks.

When a door hanger is left, an inspector will return to the site the next day to see if it has been cleared. If the walk still hasn’t been cleared, a violation notice will be left, which carries with it a $100 fine. The site will then be re-inspected every 24 hours to ensure that it has been cleared. Any subsequent violations also carry separate $100 fines.
