• College Park Boys & Girls Club reopens after near 7-year hiatus (wtop.com) — Families in College Park can once again sign their kids up for an affordable Boys & Girls Club soccer league, with practices starting in late August at the renovated Duvall Field in North College Park. A local mom is leading the volunteer-run relaunch, backed by a City Council member, and is urgently seeking volunteer coaches and board members before the Sept. 5 season kickoff in Hyattsville.
   

• National Symphony Orchestra will play at 6 DC-area venues next season as Kennedy Center shuts (wcia.com) — The National Symphony Orchestra will bring two concerts to the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in College Park next season while the Kennedy Center closes for renovation. Most NSO performances will be spread across six D.C.-area venues, giving local music lovers a rare chance to hear the orchestra closer to home in smaller halls.
