The sobriety checkpoint is one of several alcohol and drug-related enforcement initiatives throughout the year in Howard County, where approximately 35 percent of fatal crashes involved alcohol in 2015.
It was staffed by the Howard County Police Department, Maryland State Police and Mothers Against Drunk Driving, partly funded by a grant from the Maryland Highway Safety Office.
