Highland Blaze Caused $25,000 in Damage: Howard County Fire and Rescue
Howard County firefighters extinguished three fires Sunday, including one off Clarksville Pike/Route 108.
HIGHLAND, MD — Firefighters extinguished a blaze Sunday evening in Highland that engulfed a shed and nearby wooded area, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.
The blaze occurred after 6 p.m. in the 13800 block of Clarksville Pike/MD 108, officials reported.
A tree that fell into an electrical line sparked the fire, according to the report.

As of 8:35 p.m., authorities said the fire was out.
The blaze in Highland was one of three fires that Howard County first responders handled on Sunday. The others were a golf course clubhouse blaze in the western part of the county and a brush fire in Ellicott City.

Howard County was under a wind advisory until 6 a.m. Monday, and the National Weather Service said it had received a report of 47 mph winds in Ellicott City at 1:50 p.m. Sunday.
There is a fire weather watch in effect from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday for much of the region, including Howard County. The watch means fires may spread out of control quickly due to low humidity and high wind.
