Firefighters Canvass Kings Contrivance After House Fire
First responders visited one Columbia neighborhood Saturday as part of a fire prevention outreach effort.

COLUMBIA, MD — Firefighters in Howard County were out and about in the Columbia community on Saturday. Authorities said they were inspecting smoke alarms and giving out literature about fire prevention.
Crews from Station 10, which is located off Old Columbia Road, were canvassing Kings Contrivance. That neighborhood was struck by fire earlier in the week.
Seven people were displaced by the blaze there, which happened on Tuesday.

Saturday's fire prevention effort was similar to an outreach initiative in Long Reach after a house fire there at the end of November.
