Firefighters Canvass Long Reach After House Fire: Officials

Howard County fire crews installed smoke detectors during a weekend canvass in Columbia, officials say.

COLUMBIA, MD – Crews from the Long Reach firehouse canvassed the community on Saturday after a house fire in the area displaced a family. Officials said that the firefighters handed out safety material to more than 50 residences over the weekend.

Units reached out following a house fire on High Tor Hill that displaced four people on Sunday, Nov. 26.

Firefighters installed two smoke detectors during Saturday's area check and also provided educational materials to 50 houses, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.
