Firefighters By Columbia Lakefront Are Training: Officials
The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services will be training in Columbia near Lake Kittamaqundi.

COLUMBIA, MD — The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services will conduct training near the Columbia lakefront on Tuesday, March 27. Officials advise the training exercises will take place at 10227 Wincopin Circle.
Fire and rescue personnel will likely be in the area for most of the day Tuesday, according to Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services spokeswoman Maria Hogg.
It's not the first time the department has used this particular spot for training.

First responders also trained in the area in November and December.
The exercises are being conducted at the American City building, which is vacant and will be torn down as part of the downtown Columbia redevelopment to make way for condominiums, retail and community gathering space. A time frame has not been set; the project is currently undergoing planning board review since developers are seeking permission to build condominiums that are 15 stories rather than the approved 9 stories, among other diversions from the Downtown Columbia Plan that require approval.
