HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for Howard County until 6 p.m. Friday.

The NWS says this weekend could be "one of the biggest tidal flood events of the past 10-20 years" in the Washington and Baltimore metropolitan areas.

One to two inches of rain is forecast for Friday, with up to four inches in some areas. Flooding near streams and poor drainage areas is possible, according to the National Weather Service.

Here is the forecast for Howard County this weekend:

Friday: High of 61, low of 53. Heavy rain and thunderstorms. Chance of rain is 87 percent. Winds from the east at 20 miles per hour.

Saturday: High of 62, low of 50/ A shower around, mainly early. Change of rain is 55 percent. Winds from the southeast at 6 miles per hour.

Sunday: High of 62, low of 43. Clouds giving way to some sun. Chance of rain is 25 percent. Winds from the west at 7 miles per hour.
