In Maryland, Berry is facing charges of theft more than $100,000; issuing a bad check for more than $100,000; unlawfully taking a motor vehicle; and unauthorized removal of property, according to court records.
Charging documents state that Berry wrote a personal check for the full purchase price of a Range Rover—$106,024.66—on Jan. 22, 2015, and when the Clarksville dealership learned the account had been closed and tried to get in touch with him, he became unreachable after Jan. 31.
According to the Sun-Sentinel, Berry was being held without bail in Broward County, which is north of Miami. The newspaper reported his license had been suspended since he was allegedly behind on child support payments and had missed court appearances.
It may take weeks for the extradition process to shake out and for Berry to be brought to Maryland, a spokesman for the Howard County state’s attorney’s office told The Baltimore Sun.
