HoCo police were among the officers who came in from outside Washington, D.C., to keep the peace.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Officers from the Howard County Police Department attended the inauguration ceremony on Friday for President Donald J. Trump, the department announced on its Facebook page.

"HCPD's Emergency Services Unit (ESU) is in DC today helping to ensure safety and security at the 58th Presidential Inauguration," the announcement said.

Protests erupted in some parts of the city, resulting in police using pepper spray and flash grenades to quell the unrest. At least 90 people were arrested Friday amid demonstrations that caused "significant damage to a number of blocks in our city," D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham told reporters.
