Libraries Transform Lives and Strengthen Communities

Celebrate and Support Howard County Library System During National Library Week - April 7 -13! JOIN FRIENDS & FOUNDATION of HCLS

National Library Week is an annual celebration to highlight the valuable role libraries and library staff play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities. This year’s theme, Libraries = Strong Communities, illustrates how today’s libraries are at the heart of our cities, towns, schools and campuses, providing critical educational resources and expertise.

Howard County Library System (HCLS) strives every day to do its part to build a better Howard County. Its care for the community shows in many ways, including:

  • providing a public space where all community members, regardless of age, culture or income level, can come together to connect and learn.
  • encouraging community members to meet and discuss civic issues.
  • providing educational opportunities to learn new technologies and further career development
  • partnering with other civic and service organizations to actively engage the people they serve, always striving to make sure their community’s needs are being met.

National Library Week is the perfect time for library customers to show their appreciation and help raise awareness of the value and impact of Howard County Library System.
