The 29-year-old victim, who had been shot several times, was taken by medevac to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police reported. He sustained “critical and very serious injuries,” police told WNEW.
While responding to the shooting, law enforcement officers stopped a vehicle that was leaving the 5800 block of Stevens Forest Road, police said. The driver was a resident of the apartment where the shooting occurred, and the vehicle also contained a 29-year-old passenger who had a minor hand injury, police said.
Authorities were drawn to the SUV because there was “some commotion at the scene of the vehicle,” where a woman was driving and there was blood on the 29-year-old passenger’s hand, police told WBAL. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment, according to police.
Officials were investigating whether the two incidents—the shooting and the 29-year-old with the hand injury—were related, police said.
Several people from the apartment and the vehicle have been taken in for questioning, according to police.
Police said there was no threat to the public, as investigators believed the shooting was targeted.
