Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges In Shooting Of Columbia Resident: Howard County Police

A Randallstown man faces numerous charges including attempted murder in connection to the shooting of a Columbia man, according to police.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A 38-year-old Randallstown man has been charged in connection to a non-fatal shooting that happened March 5 in Columbia.

Marcus Burnette faces charges of attempted first- and second-degree murder, assault, reckless endangerment and related weapon violations.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on March 5, police responded to the area of Governor Warfield Parkway and Chestnut Park Lane for a report of shots fired. Police found Jason Bell, 55, of Columbia, in a vehicle with a gunshot wound. Bell was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Howard County Police.

Through investigation, police learned that Bell and Burnette were involved in an altercation earlier that night at Bell’s residence in Columbia. Bell left in his vehicle and police believe Burnette shot him while his vehicle was stopped on the side of road.
