Man Rescued From Columbia House Fire, Officials Say

Firefighters used a ladder to rescue a man in Columbia trapped on the second floor of his burning home, officials reported.

COLUMBIA, MD — A man was hospitalized after a house fire in Columbia Friday morning, officials said. The fire marshal determined the blaze was electrical in nature.

The man who lived in the home called 911 before 7 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, according to authorities. He said that he was unable to get out of the residence in the 5800 block of Harness Court, where there was a fire in his house.

Crews found a fire on the first floor of the home and used a ladder to rescue the man trapped inside, according to officials.

He was taken to Howard County General Hospital, where he is in stable condition, Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services reported.
