Women in Columbia enjoy the country's highest median wages after cost-of-living, low poverty and unemployment rates, strong preventive healthcare access, and high physical activity levels.
   

• DARPA Pushes Industry to Build Lighter Drones to Carry Heavy Loads (nationaldefensemagazine.org) — Avidrone Aerospace, which keeps its U.S. head office in Columbia, just topped DARPA's Lift Challenge with a lightweight drone that hauled nearly four times its own weight. The Columbia-linked team earned a $1.25 million prize and is now working to commercialize the design for military and other heavy-lift uses, potentially putting the town on the map in next-generation drone logistics.
