Black Flag Brewing Co. faces uncertain future in Columbia (thebanner.com) — Columbia's Black Flag Brewing Co. may close as soon as Nov. 30 unless a buyer or investors step in, putting a decade-old neighborhood staple and local jobs at risk. The owner cites family priorities and a shaky sale, but says the brewery is profitable and is actively seeking new offers to keep operations in Columbia.
   

2. Rhythms of the DMV: Celebrating Hispanic Music, Art, and Creativity (town.news) — Columbia residents can celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month close to home at the Howard County Hispanic Heritage Festival at The Chrysalis on Oct. 17, featuring music, food, and community activities. The guide also spotlights free and low‑cost dance and cultural events across Silver Spring, Arlington, Glen Echo, and Prince George's County, all aimed at bringing neighbors together through music and art.
   

3. Leon Bridges Announces The Happiness Anytime Tour (antimusic.com) — Leon Bridges is bringing his Happiness Anytime Tour to Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia on July 23, giving local fans a chance to hear his new album live. The tour spans North and South America, with tickets going on sale Oct. 16 and a portion of proceeds supporting The Big Good charity in Texas.
   

4. Old Montgomery Road is site of county's fourth community garden (baltimorefishbowl.com) — Howard County has opened a large new community garden in Ellicott City, easing long waitlists for Columbia Gardeners and supplying fresh produce to the Howard County Food Bank in Columbia. With 126 plots, including accessible beds, the site expands gardening opportunities and supports anti-poverty efforts that directly benefit Columbia-area families.
   

5. On the Ground at the Power to the People Festival, a Day of Protest Music and Solidarity (wdctv.news) — A massive protest-music festival just filled Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia with Bruce Springsteen, Tom Morello, Joan Baez, and more rallying against Donald Trump and Operation Metro Surge. The 10-hour show blended classic protest anthems and new material, drawing activists and fans from across the region and spotlighting Columbia as a key stage for national political culture.
