• Raised Intersection, Speed Humps Proposed To Combat Speeding Along Columbia Roads (patch.com) — Columbia residents are invited to an Oct. 21 open house to review proposed traffic calming measures on Deepage Drive and Rustling Leaf, including speed humps and a raised intersection. County officials say the Columbia neighborhood projects, funded through the updated Neighborhood Traffic Calming Policy, aim to curb excessive speeding and make local streets safer for all users.

• Man Convicted In Shooting Death Of Girlfriend's Father In Columbia (patch.com) — A Howard County jury has convicted Corey Conaway of first-degree murder and related charges in the February 2024 shooting death of his girlfriend's father at a home on Half Dollar Court in Columbia. Police say he also tried to influence testimony before trial. Sentencing is set for Dec. 17, and residents may notice this case in upcoming court dockets and local safety discussions.
