Police Remove ATM Skimmer from Bank in Columbia
A suspect installed device to track card info at SECU, Howard County police report.

Officials say they removed an ATM card skimmer on a drive-through at a bank branch in Columbia on Monday.
Skimming usually involves placing a device onto an ATM that records keystrokes and bank card information through hidden cameras, according to the FBI.
The device at the SECU branch in the 8600 block of Snowden River Parkway was removed by police at 12:03 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 14, the Howard County Police Department reported.

According to police, the suspect who put it there was a white man with slight facial hair wearing sunglasses, a baseball hat and black hoodie.

Tips to Avoid Being a Victim of Skimming
- Inspect the ATM to make sure nothing has been placed around the card reader that doesnāt belong there.
- Block visibility to the keypad while entering your pin so hidden cameras cannot see you enter it.
