Monday's Snow Closings in Howard County

HOWARD COUNTY, MD – As a result of this weekend’s blizzard, some parts of Howard County are under more than 2 feet of snow. Columbia was reporting 25 inches and Glenelg 28 inches Saturday night, according to preliminary snow accumulation data from the National Weather Service.

Due to the storm, many schools and organizations have announced closings on Monday, Jan. 25:

Howard County Public School System schools and offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 25.

Howard County and Maryland state government offices are closed Monday, Jan. 25.

All branches of the Howard County Library System are closed on Monday, Jan. 25.

Howard Community College is closed on Monday, Jan. 25.

Howard County Circuit Court and District Court will be closed on Monday, Jan. 25.

The Columbia Association has its inclement weather policy in effect on Monday, Jan. 25, with some facilities open and others closed. See the list here.

Monday’s trash and recycling collections in Howard County have been canceled. All collections will slide to one day later this week (Monday slides to Tuesday, Tuesday to Wednesday, et cetera). Do not place collections out until your road has been cleared. Receptacles must be free of snow and ice.

The Alpha Ridge Landfill will be closed on Monday, Jan. 25, and will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 26, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 410-313-6444 or visit HowardCountyRecycles.org for more info.

RTA bus service is suspended on Monday, Jan. 25. For service updates, call 1-800-270-9553.

The Maryland School for the Deaf will be closed on Monday, Jan. 25, and Tuesday, January 26. Liberal leave is in effect for faculty administrators and nonemergency essential support staff: administrative, clerical, nurses and dietary staff. Should state offices close, Maryland School for the Deaf will be closed for all. Essential personnel should report per supervisor instructions.

Weekend Closings

All Columbia Association facilities will be closed on Sunday, Jan. 24, except Supreme Sports Club, which may open.

The Mall in Columbia is closed on Sunday, Jan. 24. It was also closed on Saturday, Jan. 23, and closed at 3 p.m. Friday.

Howard Community College is closing at noon on Friday, Jan. 22, and will remain closed through Sunday, Jan. 24.

Howard County offices and facilities plus state offices are closing at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22.

The Howard County Library System is closing all branches at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, and will remain closed through Sunday, Jan. 24. Fines will not be imposed for days the library is closed or closes early.

The Howard County Community Action Council will close at noon on Friday, Jan. 22.

Howard County Public Schools are closed on Friday, Jan. 22.

Howard County senior centers are closed on Friday, Jan. 22.
