Dick's Sporting Goods held a soft opening on Wednesday and Thursday for some of the locals, but the official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Friday morning.

Specializing in sports and fitness retail, the Gambrills location is the 485th location nationwide. Previously, the closest Dick's Sporting Goods was in Glen Burnie or Columbia.

"No more 30-minute drives for the next available store," Bardzik said with a smile.
