National Night Out Events Canceled In Anne Arundel County

National organizers recommended participating communities reschedule their events to later this year due to the coronavirus.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — National Night Out events across Anne Arundel County have been canceled. National Night Out organizers recommended that all of its participating communities bump their events to later this year due to the coronavirus and many police departments are moving their activities to Oct. 6. Events typically are held on the first Tuesday in August and are designed to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement.

Marc Limansky, public information officer with the Anne Arundel County Police Department, confirmed that National Night Out events have been canceled in the county due to the coronavirus. Last year, the Eastern District National Night Out was held at the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company in Severna Park. There also was a National Night Out event held in the parking lot of Piney Orchard Community Center in Odenton, at the Crofton Library and at the Lula G. Scott Community Center in Shady Side. Such events typically feature such activities as free food, displays from area organizations, demonstrations with K-9 dogs and fire department equipment, children's games and more.
