Working from home has its benefits. You don’t deal with commuting on Maryland roads. But what are these jobs, and where can you find them?

Here are five such jobs advertised on the Maryland Patch Jobs Board.

• Medical Transcriptionist
• Ads Quality Rater - Hebrew Language Needed
• Customer Service Specialist
• Application and Data Integrator

Customer service: A lot of companies want their customer service reps to work from home instead of a call center. The 24-hour nature of customer service lets a lot of reps set their own hours, especially from home. One company now hiring offers reps a flexible work schedule and employee rewards and discounts.

Online trader: Online traders work with firms to trade stocks and bonds, all from home. These jobs typically have a modest base salary with possibilities for performance-based incentives. This one, for example, with a Miami-based company says that ”traders keep 90 percent of their net trading profits.” The job asks for experienced traders but doesn’t necessarily require a college degree.

Data entry: Data-entry jobs are pretty straightforward and require little training or experience. Companies need their data formatted correctly and hire people to do so. These jobs can be purely performance-based and work-as-you-go. This job asks for data knowledge experience but does not necessarily require a college degree.
