Dundalk Man Killed in Harford County Crash Tuesday

Jack Watson was hit while walking on Philadelphia Road in Joppa.

A pedestrian killed in Joppa Tuesday has been identified as a 61-year-old Dundalk man, according to Maryland State Police.

Jack Franklin Watson, ofย the 2000 block of Frames Road, was walking in the westbound lane of Philadelphia Road east of Route 152 in Harford County around 8 p.m. when he was struck by a Volkswagen Beetle, police said.

Paramedics found Watson unresponsive, and he was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 8:49 p.m., police said.

Philadelphia Road was closed until approximately 11 p.m. as police investigated the crash.

According to police, the area was not illuminated by street lights and Watson was wearing dark clothing.

Preliminarily, police said that Watson was under the influence of alcohol and speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash. Police said the driver of the Volkswagen was a 32-year-old Essex man.

The Harford County State's Attorney's Office will determine whether charges will be filed, police said.
