Prep Wrestling: Pointers Tops in Dundalk

In a contest held Thursday between local rivals where no school is more than five miles apart, hosted and in a tri-meet wrestling match.

“We always had the Dundalk match circled on the calender,” said Tom Free, Pointer assistant head coach and SP alum. “Most of these kids started wrestling for the Dundalk Hawks rec program, now they are wrestling against each other in high school. It makes me proud to see our rec programs really feeding the local high schools.”

The Pointers defeated Patapso 72-9 and Dundalk 45-27. Dundalk defeated Patapsco.

Teddy Cadd (160), Nathan Borkowicz (170), Chris Petrovia (106) and Randy Watson (113) all scored pins in both of their matches. Jon Sidelinker (120), Shane Hammer (152) and James Krug (182) also added multiple wins for the Pointers.

Patapsco was able to produce two wins against Sparrows Point with Fraiser (132) winning 3-2 over Chris Long and Austin Troutman (220) pinning Gurvir Singh, while Dundalk recorded five wins over the Pointers, with Alfred Martinez (132), Aguilar (145), Joey Doetsch (195), Sean Miskimom (220), and Wayne Maddox (285).  All but Maddox pinned.

The Pointers are now 11-2 in regular-season dual-meets, and will face Franklin on Monday before going to regional duals on Wednesday where they will face Edmondson and Dundalk will face Owings Mills.
