Teen Wanted in Catonsville Shooting Surrenders to Police

Rasheed Stanford, 16, of the unit block of Roberts Avenue in Catonsville, has been charged with attempted first degree murder, first degree assault, and use of a firearm in a felony crime.

A 16-year-old suspect wanted in connection withย a shooting in Catonsville on Aug. 19ย ย -- a case that police say led to theย death of a police officerย in another shootingย this week -- surrendered to Baltimore Countyย police Thursday.


Rasheed Stanford, 16, of the unit block of Roberts Avenue in Catonsville, has been charged withย attempted first degree murder, first degree assault, and use of a firearm in a felony crime in connection with a shooting that occurred in Catonsville Aug. 19, according to police spokeswoman Cpl. Cathleen Batton.

Stanford is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center

Baltimore County police officer Jason Schneider was fatally injured Wednesday morning in an exchange of gunfireย while serving a warrant at a Catonsville homeย in connection with the Aug. 19 shooting, whichย took place nearby in the 100 block of Winters Lane, police said. Another person, a suspect believed to have shot Schneider, was also killed.ย A 17-year-old who was foundย inside the homeย has been charged as an adultย with firearms violations, according to police.

Schneider'sย funeralย is set for Saturday.

The 29-year-old victim in the Aug. 19 incident was hospitalized but is expected to survive, police said.ย
