Crews Battle Garage Fire in Edgewater Area

A fire in a garage on Austin Drive was fought by the Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department Sunday afternoon.

EDGEWATER, MD — Drivers were asked to avoid the area of a garage fire as Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department trucks battled the blaze late Sunday afternoon.

The department said on Facebook that units responded to the blaze in the unit block of Austin Drive.

There was no official update on the extent of the fire or the cause.

The Capital-Gazette reported that two people working on a car were in the garage when an explosion happened; they were not hurt.

Tankers traveled in and out of the area to bring water to the scene, the department said, tying up traffic in the area.
