Mother-Daughter Team Open Boutique at Body Wellness Spa

When Dawn Linderman first opened Body Wellness Salon and Spa in South River Colony, it was one of the first high-end spas in the south county area.

After a successful 10 years, Linderman is embarking on another first—expanding the salon and opening a fashion boutique with her daughter in tow.

Linderman opened The Boutique at Body Wellness on May 18. Her daughter, Taylor Linderman, has taken over as manager of the boutique.

“Our clients said they get tired of going to the mall and there is nothing like this on this side of the bridge,” Dawn Linderman said of the boutique. “I was the first one to put in a higher end salon and spa and I will be the first one to put in a boutique.”

The Boutique at Body Wellness features clothing hand-picked by Dawn and Taylor Linderman from the Dallas Market Center in Texas. The pair said they picked items that targeted a wide age range of women.

The new business endeavor is a dream come true for Linderman, a Broadneck High School graduate who also attended the Art Institute for Fashion in 2008, and then graduated from Salisbury University with a degree in business in December 2012.

“It’s my passion. It’s not even like work to me because I could sit here in merchandise clothes all day,” Taylor Linderman said. “That’s what I like about it. I’m in my element."

Taylor Linderman does more than just ring-up clothing purchases. She also engages with customers to find a style they are comfortable with. 

“Taylor is here to educate people,” Dawn Linderman said. “As women kind of get older they are a little afraid to think out of the box a little bit. We got things that a 20 something or 50 year old could wear, but it’s all how you pair it.”

Since Dawn and Taylor Linderman chose which items they wanted to sell in the store, they were able to stay within a targeted price range. Taylor Linderman said the prices range from $30 to $60, and said customers won’t find anything over $100 in the store.

One thing customers can be sure to get from The Boutique at Body Wellness is distinctive look.

“The thing with boutique is we don’t carry a lot of one thing so you buy it now or it won’t be here. It ensures what you get is unique,” Dawn Linderman said. 

For now the boutique at 149 Mitchells Chance Rd. will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
