No Official Cause, Damage Estimate in Edgewater Fire

Three fire departments responded to a Sunday afternoon fire on Austin Drive in Edgewater that destroyed a garage and threatened a house.

EDGEWATER, MD — Authorities have not yet determined the cause of an Edgewater garage fire that called multiple fire units to Austin Drive Sunday.

The detached garage was destroyed by the fire, which was reported at 4:35 p.m. Firefighters from Anne Arundel County, Annapolis City and Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire in the unit block of Austin Drive.

The four-car, two-story garage was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, while radiant heat threatened a nearby two-story house. The fire in the garage also involved two 250-gallon propane tanks that fed the fire, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department’s blog.
