Shady Side Collects Cards for Injured Principal

An accident in Annapolis on Monday morning sent Shady Side principal Geoff Casey to Shock Trauma.

Shady Side students, parents and community members are finding ways to rally behind their principal, who was injured in a car accident in Annapolis on Monday.

Geoff Casey is in critical condition following the three-car collision on Route 2 in Annapolis Monday morning. But students are finding a way to help by making cards.

A bin was placed outside Shady Side Elementary to collect cards for Casey. Kate King, a parent organizing the card collection, said cards could be dropped off into the bin outside the front door at Shady Side Elementary until 5 p.m. on July 12. The cards will be used to decorate Casey’s space while he recovers.

Casey’s family has also set up a website on Caringbridge.org to provide updates on his condition.

Casey has been an employee with Anne Arundel County Public Schools since 1979, according to schools spokesman Bob Mosier. He took over as principal at Shady Side in July 2012.
