TRACYS LANDING, MD — Police announced that they on Saturday arrested a son accused of killing his mother last month in Tracys Landing. Officials identified the victim as 58-year-old Juanita Naomi Koilpillai.

Authorities listed the arrestee as 23-year-old Andrew Weylin Beavers, who lived with his mother in the 6300 block of Genoa Road. Officials disclosed that Beavers faces charges of first- and second-degree murder.

Officers noted that they found Koilpillai's body on July 25 in the 6300 block of Genoa Road. Medics pronounced her dead on the scene after apparent trauma, a press release added.

The investigation started around 3:28 p.m. when a boyfriend reported that his girlfriend was missing and that there was suspected blood in the home, the write-up mentioned. Authorities explained that they executed several search warrants and found preliminary evidence that the incident, initially ruled a suspicious death, could have been a homicide.

The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy in Baltimore on July 26, officials informed. The examiner determined that the cause of Koilpillai's death was "multiple sharp force injuries with the manner being homicide," police said. Detectives think this was a targeted, not random, act of violence.

Investigators also shared that somebody found the victim’s missing vehicle in Leesburg, Virginia. Authorities indicated that they brought the vehicle back to Anne Arundel County to search it for more evidence.

Officers advised that the driver, also the person of interest, had a fresh cut on his right hand that he could not explain. Evidence suggested that the DNA of the person of interest and the victim were on the suspected homicide weapon, detectives commented. Investigators believe Beavers killed Koilpillai, hid her body outside and fled to Virginia.

The incident report specified that a judge issued an arrest warrant last Friday. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office arrested Beavers Saturday at a Leesburg home in the 39000 block of Thomas Mill Road, the release divulged. He awaits extradition to Anne Arundel County, the write-up concluded.
