Eldersburg Snow Totals from Thursday

National Weather Service provides unofficial measurements.

School was canceled Thursday in Carroll County and many jurisdictions around the state due to inclement weather. So how much snow did we get?

Here are Carroll County’s preliminary snowfall totals for Thursday, Feb. 26, from the National Weather Service:

  • Eldersburg: 1.3 inches; reported at 8 a.m.
  • Southeast Westminster: 1 inch; reported at 9:08 a.m.
  • Southwest Westminster: 0.8 inch; reported at 10:09 a.m.
  • Northeast Millers: 0.4 inch; reported at 12:36 p.m.

Statewide, the most snow was reported out of Somerset County, where 8 inches had fallen by 10:30 a.m. School in Somerset County, located on the Eastern Shore, was closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Temperatures on Friday are forecast to stay below freezing. The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement Thursday night for most of Maryland, including Carroll County, advising that due to below-freezing temperatures, there may be icy spots on the roads Friday morning. Drivers should reduce speeds and give themselves extra time to get to their destinations.
