Elkridge Man Died in Philadelphia Train Derailment

A Maryland man is still missing from Amtrak train 188 two days after it derailed north of Philadelphia, officials say.

Bob Gildersleeve, 45, was in the first car of the train that went off the tracks Tuesday night, according to NBC.

“They found his phone,” Gildersleeve’s father told NBC News. “But they can’t find him or his belongings.”

The Amtrak train traveling from Washington to New York crashed off its rails late Tuesday, killing eight and injuring more than 140 people in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia, according to authorities.

Bob Gildersleeve Sr., 71, said his son lives in Elkridge and was bound for New York on business, The New York Times reported.

The younger Gildersleeve is vice president for corporate accounts at Ecolab, according to WBAL. He and his wife have two teenage children, one of whom traveled to Philadelphia with Bob Gildersleeve Sr. to search for him, WBAL reported.
