New Jersey Man Among Dead In Amtrak Train Derailment

A Middlesex County man and Associated Press video software architect was among the six people killed in the Philadelphia Amtrak train derailment, according to reports.
News12 reported that Jim Gaines, 48, a father of two, was returning home to Plainsboro when the train derailed Tuesday night.
His death was confirmed by his wife, Jacqueline, according to the Associated Press.

Gaines joined the AP in 1998 and was an important factor in the news agency’s video initiatives, including a service providing live video to clients worldwide, according to the reports.
Gaines won AP’s “Geek of the Month” award three years ago for his “tireless dedication and contagious passion” to technological innovation, according to the company.

He is survived by 16-year-old son Oliver and 11-year-old daughter Anushka, according to the AP.
