$26K Theft Of Catalytic Converters In Howard County Leads To Conviction

A Severna Park man has been convicted in the theft of $26 worth of catalytic converters from Columbia Association work trucks.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A Severna Park man has been convicted by a Howard County jury in connection to the theft of nearly a dozen catalytic converters from work trucks owned by the Columbia Association.

The jury returned the verdict May 15.

On the evening of April 6, Howard County Police said Deon Moore, 33, broke into the Columbia Association's parking lot where vehicles are kept when not used and cut out 11 catalytic converters from work trucks. During the investigation, detectives learned that Moore regularly stole catalytic converters from vehicles, the police department said. In this incident, Moore caused more than $26,000 dollars’ worth of damage to the Columbia Association's vehicles.

Moore was found guilty of felony theft, malicious destruction of property and burglary in the fourth-degree. He will be sentenced July 11.
