Seventy-five years ago, Dr. Seuss wrote his first children's book And to Think I Saw it on Mulberry Street, changing the world of children's literature forever. Who among us doesn't have a favorite Seuss book, or a memory associated with one? Remember the tweetle beetle battle from the Fox in Sox? Or feeling a little more adventurous about trying new foods after reading Green Eggs and Ham? Yes! I will eat them in a car or with a goat, while on a boat. I will eat green eggs and ham.
March 2 was Theodore Geisel's birthday. Did you know that his nom-de-plume originated from his mother's maiden name? Or that it should be pronounced Zoice not Sooce? Even now, I'm learning from this beloved doctor.

- Head over to the Miller Branch of the Howard County library. Have each family member check out his or her favorite Dr. Seuss book. At home, take turns reading them aloud - using voices.
- Plan to attend the musical "Seussical" at Centennial High School, March 22-23, 7 p.m. March 24, 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10 in advance; $12 at the
door. - Visit the Seussville website for fun, interactive games and information.
- Make Green Eggs with Inside-Out Ham Sandwiches for lunch (or dinner).
- See the movie version of The Lorax, playing in Columbia theaters now. Talk with your family about how you can make a positive impact on the environment by changing your own behaviors.
