Local Students Enjoy Special Production Put On By Howard Community College Actors

For the fifth year, HoCo elementary students were able to watch Howard Community College actors in special performances at their schools.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — "Miss Electricity," a children's theater production, showed at select Howard County elementary schools recently. Presented by Howard Community College's student theater, 10-year-old Violet insists on showing the world how special she is and becomes accidentally extraordinary when she's struct by lightning twice and gains control over all things electric.

Now in its fifth year, HCC Student Theatre took its touring children’s theater production to 10 elementary schools during the 2022-2023 season. The tour included seven HCC Theatre students who performed two shows at each of the participating schools.

“It’s a pleasure to offer these exciting performances for Howard County elementary school students,” said HCC Chair of Theatre, Dance and Audio Video Production Bill Gillett. “Not only is this an excellent and supportive educational opportunity for the children in the audience, but the touring experience is also an amazing experiential learning opportunity for the college-student performers.”
