DUI Checkpoint Nets 4 Arrests: Howard County Police

Police said 15 people were arrested in Howard County this week through targeted drunk driving patrols.

SAVAGE, MD — Four people were arrested at a sobriety checkpoint in Howard County over the weekend, police said. The checkpoint was conducted on Washington Boulevard/Route 1 in Savage.

Police said 817 vehicles passed through the checkpoint between Howard Street and Gorman Road on Route 1. State troopers and county police provided information to those who passed through.

Four people were arrested at the checkpoint and charged with driving under the influence, police said:

  • Terry Eugene Trafton, 49, of College Park
  • Fernando Pavarin, 38, of Laurel
  • Rolando Kente Miller, 40, of Laurel
  • Carlos Lui Gutierrez-Castillo, 39, of Laurel

This was the second initiative to combat impaired driving this week in Howard County. Police conducted a saturation patrol the night before Thanksgiving that netted 11 arrests.

Increased patrols will continue throughout the holiday season to keep road safe, the Howard County Police Department advised.
