Ellicott City Shoppers Offered Perks For Small Business Saturday

Which Ellicott City small businesses are your favorites? Several are offering deals for Small Business Saturday.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Big-name national retailers take the spotlight on Black Friday as their deep price cuts pull in shoppers in droves. But what about those mom-and-pop businesses in Ellicott City and beyond that are the backbone of America's economy? Just when do they get their day?

Locally owned business across the country now take part in Small Business Saturday, offering their own deals to rival those offered the day before on Black Friday.

The Ellicott City Partnership and Visit Ellicott City have teamed up to offer specials such as a free tote to those who visit the Welcome Center with a receipt dated Saturday, Nov. 25. Made On Main is giving away a free gift with $25 purchase. Su Casa is offering a $25 gift card with $50 purchase, a $50 gift card with $100 purchase and $100 gift card with at least $500 purchase.

Ellicott City residents can take part in the fun of Small Business Saturday all day, from downtown to beyond. Small businesses participating include the Forget-Me-Not Factory, Berman's Jewelers, Mat About You and more.

American Express gets the credit for founding the shopping holiday, which got its official start on Nov. 27, 2010, according to the Small Business Saturday Facebook page. Locally owned business across the country now take part in the event.
