HCPSS Makes Weather Call For Tuesday, March 20, 2018

BREAKING: Students will be dismissed earlier than usual in Howard County due to weather.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD – Due to inclement weather, all public schools in Howard County will be closing three hours early on Tuesday, March 20, school officials announced Tuesday morning. The announcement came as a wintry mix was falling countywide.

After-care programs through Howard County Recreation and Parks and the Columbia Association are canceled.

All after-school and evening school and community-sponsored events are canceled as well.

Buses may be delayed because of field trips that were taking place Tuesday morning, according to a statement from the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS).

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for northwestern Howard County Tuesday calling for snow, sleet and freezing rain.

There is also a winter storm watch issued for Wednesday, with several inches of snow expected between midnight and 8 p.m.
