Howard Hospital Foundation Names Director of Development

COLUMBIA, Md.—Howard Hospital Foundation, which provides philanthropic support to Howard County General Hospital, named Amanda Pizzurro director of development.

In her new position, Pizzurro, who has 10 years of experience in fundraising and development, oversees Howard Hospital Foundation’s development program, including special campaigns, major gifts, annual giving and grant programs as well as communication and promotion activities.

Prior to joining Howard Hospital Foundation, Pizzurro was director of U.S. network engagement for United Way Worldwide, where she engaged local United Ways in major markets across the country. In her position, she established and strengthened relationships between United Way Worldwide and the local United Ways.

Before that, Pizzurro was associate vice president of development for United Way of Central Maryland. Her responsibilities included supervising the private-sector relationship management team with a $24 million portfolio, working with boards and volunteers from across the region and managing a portfolio of corporate fundraising campaigns.

She previously served United Way of Central Maryland as director of development, assistant director of development and senior relationship manager. In addition, she worked for Paychex as a sales representative as well as for a recruiting firm.

Pizzurro serves on the board of Rebuilding Together Howard County and graduated from Leadership Howard County Premier. She also participated in a global fellowship program through United Way, mentored for Higher Achievement Baltimore and volunteered for the Tubman Head Start Center.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University and lives in Ellicott City.
