But is there anything really that we can do about this disaster, here in Maryland?

There is.

The charity organization, Kids for Kids, and Meenal’s Fashions is organizing a fundraising event in

Maryland to assist those in India. This event will be taking place in the Murugan Temple of North

America, located at 6300 Princess Garden Parkway, Lanham from 5 pm this Saturday, September 7

2013.

Everyone is welcome to the event and is encouraged to attend. At Kids for Kids second charity event,

there will be Kuchipudi and Bollywood dance performances, food, music, and much more. The event is

free and donations are more than welcome.

The president of Kids for Kids and a senior at Centennial High, Anusha Nathan and Kids for Kids have

been really looking forward to the event: Jal- The Power of Water. According to Nathan, “In addition

to the stellar performers, including Bollywood dancers, a maestro violinist, and powerhouse vocalists

from various cultures ranging from Indian to African, all proceeds from the event are for a great cause.

All money collected through donations, as it is a free event, will be used to support flood relief in

Uttarakhand, India. We are really hoping for a massive crowd to help support all of our performers and

the cause! So please come out and join us at the Murugan Temple for entertainment, food, and fashion

all wrapped up in one convenient evening!”

A dance performer at the event, Centennial High senior Diya Sengupta is participating because according

to her, “Uttarakhand is extremely important to not just me- but all Indians…. It is the home to an

important part of our spiritual culture.”

Help support their noble cause and Uttarakhand by donating at this event on Saturday, and in the

meanwhile, have a great time!
