Missing Ellicott City Man Found Deceased: Police

Stephen Wells Landen went out with his dog and did not return home, police said; he was found deceased Monday morning.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — An Ellicott City man who has dementia is missing, and authorities are asking for help finding him. He has a small, white dog, according to police.

Stephen Wells Landen, 64, was last seen at approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29, police said. At the time, he was leaving his home in the 3700 block of Chateau Ridge Drive to walk his dog, officials reported.

When he did not return home, his family members notified police.

Landen, who has dementia, was not dressed for the weather, police said. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Howard County, where temperatures are in the 40s Sunday night.

When Landen left home in Ellicott City, police said he was wearing a striped polo shirt that was blue, black and white along with khaki pants, black shoes and a medical bracelet with his information on it.

Landen is considered a critically missing person, and anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
