Meet HCPSS Interim Superintendent Tuesday At Town Hall

Howard County Public School System Interim Superintendent Michael J. Martirano will speak at a town hall on Tuesday, May 23.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Two weeks after Superintendent Renee Foose announced her retirement from the Howard County Public School System, the interim superintendent will address the community at a town hall.

Interim Superintendent Michael J. Martirano is set to appear at Howard High School Tuesday night at an event where all are welcome to attend.

Martirano was most recently the state superintendent of schools for West Virginia, where he announced in 2016 he would be retiring at the end of the school year to move closer to his family in Maryland. Previously, he was the superintendent of schools in St. Mary's County, where he was named the 2009 superintendent of the year.

Martirano holds a doctorate of education in school management and instructional leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Florida, two master's degrees in education and a bachelor of science from the University of Maryland.

The community town hall is slated for 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, at Howard High School, 8700 Old Annapolis Road, Ellicott City.
