• Curbside Food Scrap Collection Program Expands Into 2 Howard Co. Towns (patch.com) — Ellicott City households are being invited to join Howard County's expanded Feed the Green Bin curbside food scrap collection program, with sign-up open through Oct. 16. Eligible residents will receive a mailed postcard explaining how to register and, if they enroll, can expect their new green bins by late October, supporting local composting and waste reduction efforts.
   

• 5 store concepts that launched in 2026 (retaildive.com) — Target has rolled out its new Beauty Studio concept to about 600 stores, including a recently opened location in Ellicott City that replaces the former Ulta shop-in-shop. The space offers 1,600 products, many new brands, beauty advisers, and hands-on testing, while other retailers nationwide experiment with fresh in-store concepts and partnerships.
