Search For Fisherman Continues Near Daniels Dam
A hole in the ice has prompted a search by the Maryland Natural Resources Police.

PATAPSCO VALLEY STATE PARK, MD — Authorities are searching for anyone with information about a possibly missing ice fisherman. Officials said they have been searching near Daniels Dam after a hole in the ice was found Thursday afternoon with one shoe as well as equipment nearby.
"We are looking for an ice fisherman who may have fallen through the ice just below Daniels Dam at Patapsco Valley State Park..." the Maryland Department of Natural Resources said.
"If someone did not return home...or you are the fisherman who fell through the ice and self-rescued, please let us know," the Department of Natural Resources said in a statement.

A witness found a hole in the ice at Daniels Dam at 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, according to Maryland Natural Resources Police spokeswoman Candy Thomson.
A boot and tackle box were found near the hole, according to Thomson, who said the witness reported the items and hole were not there at 2:10 p.m.

Officials said that first responders conducted a search of the shoreline but did not locate anyone.
Natural resources personnel again tried to search the area Friday morning but said rain overnight complicated their efforts by creating runoff.
Over the weekend, the ice fisherman was not located, according to Thomson.
"We would ask hikers who visit the park to keep an eye open for additional fishing gear, clothing or other items," she said.
"The downstream search will continue as part of our usual park patrols," Thomson said Sunday evening.
Anyone with information may contact the Maryland Natural Resources Police at 410-260-8888; the dispatch center is staffed 24/7.
