Second Maryland Inmate Dies From Coronavirus
Both the first and second victims lived at the Jessup Correctional Institution and were in their 60s with underlying health conditions.
JESSUP, MD — A second inmate who had been living at the Jessup Correctional Institution has passed away due to the new coronavirus. The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services said the victim was an inmate in his 60s who had a number of serious underlying medical conditions.
The inmate had been living at the Jessup Correctional Institution prior to being hospitalized on April 13. He passed away April 27. The first inmate to pass away from the new coronavirus was reported April 13. He was in his 60s and had serious underlying medical conditions. The first victim had been hospitalized for several weeks.

DPSCS numbers released Monday show 157 officers, 50 inmates and 10 staff members were confirmed to have the new coronavirus as of Sunday. There were 24 officers, 15 inmates and six staff members who have recovered from the virus, according to the DPSCS.
