The Ironman and the Turtle

A marathon runner slows down just in time for Earth Day.

, as reported here on Patch. And, considering that he’s come in first, second and third place in about 100 races, it’s safe to assume he’s fast.

But Garcia was not too fast to notice one of nature’s slower creatures last week. On one of his daily runs, he came across a turtle in the middle of the street.

He didn’t want the turtle to get hit by a car so he picked it up and took it for a run.

When he got home, Garcia put the turtle in the bathtub for his son, Kipp to see.

“Kipp was very excited to see it,” his mother, Kimberly Palmer said.

He had just celebrated Earth Day at Veteran’s Elementary School and he and Palmer have been planting seeds, picking up trash and saving wildlife. So he and Garcia took the turtle to a pond and released it.

“We did something good for the world today, Dad.”
